Asian Shares Mixed Amid US Strike on Iran Rocket Launchers
Asian shares were mixed on Monday as investors digested news from the US, while oil prices surged after a strike by US forces against Iranian rocket launchers.
The US Federal Reserve's plans to raise interest rates soon weighed on US futures, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average slipping 0.1%.
Brent crude rose 2.9% to $90.62 per barrel after the strike, while U.S. benchmark crude oil jumped 2.7% to $85.62 per barrel.
Fed Chairman Kevin Warsh's speech on Friday reinforced expectations of a rate hike, which sent yields on short-term Treasury bonds soaring.
