Asian Shares Mostly Higher Amid Oil Price Gains
Asian shares were mostly higher on Wednesday after U.S. stocks slipped from their records.
The Kospi, South Korea's main stock market index, gained 4% to 6,597.90, driven by renewed buying of computer chipmakers such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix.
Tokyo's Nikkei 225 rose 0.6%, while Taiwan's Taiex advanced 0.8%. The Shanghai Composite index added 0.3%, but the Hang Seng in Hong Kong slipped 1.2%.
The price of Brent crude oil, the international standard, was up 0.9% at $89.67 per barrel, as doubts persisted over when the war with Iran will allow crude to flow freely again.
