Asian shares plummeted on Thursday following a downturn on Wall Street as crude oil prices rose above $100 per barrel for the first time since July.

The price of Brent crude surged by 3.4% to reach $101 per barrel, and U.S. futures were modestly higher early in the day.

President Donald Trump stated that oil prices are unlikely to drop until after the U.S. midterm elections.
