Asian Stocks Mixed as Oil Prices Rise After Gaza Deal Rejection
Asian stocks were mixed on Monday after a strong showing on Wall Street. The Nikkei 225 in Tokyo led gains, jumping 2.1% to 66,970.22. Technology companies drove the increase, with Tokyo Electron and Advantest rising by 4.1% and 6.4%, respectively.
In South Korea, the Kospi added 0.7% to 6,299.66, while Samsung Electronics lost 0.4%. The Hang Seng in Hong Kong gained 0.9% to 25,904.94, and the Shanghai Composite index picked up 0.7% to 3,966.59.
Oil prices rose after Israel rejected a deal announced by US President Donald Trump for Gaza. Brent crude, the international standard, gained 0.6% to $84.01 per barrel, while U.S. benchmark crude advanced 0.3% to $78.46 per barrel.
