Asian Stocks Skid as Brent Crude Tops $100 per Barrel Amid US-Iran Tensions
The global stock market experienced a sell-off in Asia on Friday as oil prices topped $100 per barrel for the first time since the US-Iran conflict escalated. The Brent crude price fell by 3.5% to $97.19, reversing its earlier gains this week.
Markets in Europe fared better, however, with some gaining ground despite the volatility in Asia. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 133 points, or 0.3%, while the S&P 500 increased by 0.1%.
The Nasdaq, on the other hand, fell 0.5% due to sharp losses from tech giants Micron Technology and Broadcom, both of which have significant market values that can heavily influence the broader market.
