Atiku Accuses Tinubu Administration of Fueling Poverty with Economic Reforms
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has criticized the administration of President Bola Tinubu for worsening poverty and economic hardship through its economic reforms.
In a statement, Atiku said that the continued increase in petrol prices despite declining crude oil prices is evidence that the government's policies are transferring the burden of economic adjustment directly to Nigerian households.
The former Vice President noted that his proposed targeted intervention on petrol would be transparent and independently audited, with an emphasis on domestic production and measurable benefits to consumers.
Atiku also criticized the timing of President Tinubu's three-week vacation in Europe, which he said raises questions about leadership and public perception given the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians.
