Atiku Campaign Promises Affordable Fuel with Domestic Refining Plan
Atiku Abubakar's presidential campaign spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, has outlined his party's plan to reduce fuel prices by prioritizing domestic refining and supplying crude oil at affordable rates.
The proposal, part of the Atiku Fuel Affordability Plan (AFAP), aims to shift government support from imported fuel to domestic production, reducing the cost of refined petroleum products for consumers.
According to Okonkwo, Nigeria's current refining capacity and exportation of crude oil have led to a 'cost-of-production-induced inflation', which is driving up prices for Nigerians.
The campaign spokesperson argued that Atiku's plan would help restore the purchasing power of Nigerians by reducing fuel costs, thereby easing pressure on households and businesses.
