August Gas Prices Reach New Record High
Gas prices have remained high in August, with the national average price of regular gasoline reaching nearly $4.09 per gallon. According to Triple-A, this marks a new record for the most expensive August at the pump, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.
The national average has been above $4 per gallon every day in August for the first time ever, with prices showing little movement on the crude oil front. Despite a slight one-cent decrease from last week's price, crude oil remains in the $80 per barrel range due to continued volatility in the Strait of Hormuz.
The record-breaking gas prices are expected to continue through the end of August, making this month one of the most expensive on record for drivers.
