India's largest palm oil importer, AWL Agri Business Ltd, has reaffirmed its commitment to sourcing 70% of its needs from Malaysia. Speaking after a meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, managing director and CEO Shrikant Kanhere said the company imports around 1.5 million tonnes of crude palm oil (CPO) annually.

The CPO is refined at AWL's facilities across India, supplying both consumers and food manufacturers. The company also leverages by-products from the palm value chain to support its sizeable oleochemicals business.

AWL exports small volumes of consumer-packed goods, including basmati rice and wheat flour, to Malaysia. However, it does not have joint ventures in Malaysia at present.
