Axis Silver ETF Leads Category Amid Global Economic Pressures
Indian silver Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) have taken a hit in recent months, with some funds posting losses of up to 22% over six months. The Axix Silver ETF, however, has outperformed its peers on a relative basis, despite the category's struggles.
The decline is largely driven by external factors such as a strengthening US dollar and shifting expectations regarding interest rates from the US Federal Reserve, which have put pressure on silver prices globally. Additionally, a cooling outlook for industrial demand has further weighed on the commodity's market price.
Funds that track the domestic price of physical silver are sensitive to these global trends, making them highly volatile investments. Investors should be aware that returns from silver ETFs are purely dependent on price appreciation and can experience extended periods of drawdown followed by rapid recovery depending on the global demand cycle and monetary policy environment.
