Axpo and Vitol Bring Clean Fuel to Italy's Civitavecchia Port

Renewable energy producer Axpo and private energy and commodity trading firm Vitol have partnered to launch liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering operations at the port of Civitavecchia in western Italy.

The companies completed their first ship-to-ship refuelling operation using the 7,500 cubic metre Italian bunkering vessel Green Pearl, which is operated by Axpo.

This development marks a significant milestone in the transition towards cleaner fuels for maritime transport, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainability in the shipping industry.
