Azerbaijan Offers Gas Supply to Ukraine Amid Regional Energy Security Concerns
Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has stated that his country is ready to supply natural gas to Ukraine if needed. This announcement was made at a joint press conference with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha in Kyiv on Thursday.
Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan's long-standing presence in the Ukrainian market through its State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), which continues to operate actively and has plans to expand energy cooperation. He noted that Azerbaijan supplies natural gas to 12 European nations, including 10 EU member states.
The Foreign Minister emphasized Azerbaijan's strategic role in Europe's energy security and expressed interest in using Ukraine's underground gas storage facilities as a mutually beneficial area of cooperation. This could potentially enhance regional energy security.
