B.C. Greenlights FortisBC LNG Expansion Without Permit

The British Columbia government has approved an exemption for FortisBC to expand its liquefied natural gas plant at the Tilbury site in Delta, B.C. without a permit from the B.C. Utilities Commission.

This will save time and allow the $2-billion investment to move ahead, creating 1,100 jobs during construction and generating $260 million in tax revenues.

The existing LNG facility on the site has been operating since 1971, but it's now producing LNG for vessels and working with the Vancouver Port authority to develop a marine refuelling service.
