Bajus Hikes Gold Prices by Tk 2,216 per Bhori Amid Local Market Increase
The Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) announced a significant price hike for gold on Monday, July 27, 2026. The association raised the price of 22-karat gold by Tk 2,216 per bhori, setting the new price at Tk 223,074 per bhori, including VAT.
The revised rates took effect from 10 am on the same day and will remain in place until further notice. According to Bajus, the price increase was made due to a rise in the local market's pure gold prices.
Under the new rates, a bhori (11.664 grams) of 22-karat gold ornaments will now cost Tk 223,074, including VAT. The prices of other types of gold also saw an upward revision: 21-karat gold rose by Tk 2,100 to Tk 213,043 per bhori, while 18-karat gold increased by Tk 1,750 to Tk 182,950.
Bajus emphasized that the new prices will be applicable at all jewellery outlets, although making charges may vary depending on the design. Additionally, since VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, it cannot be charged separately from customers.
