The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has raised the price of gold in the local market for the second time this week. The new rate of 22-carat gold is Tk 2,36,779 per bhori, an increase of Tk 1,633 from the previous day's price. This adjustment was made due to the recent rise in pure gold prices.

The organisation announced the revised rates in a notice on August 13, stating that they will remain effective at all jewellery shops across the country until further notice. The new prices for other types of gold are Tk 2,26,165 per bhori for 21-carat gold and Tk 1,94,206 per bhori for 18-carat gold.

Bajus noted that VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver ornaments, so it cannot be collected separately from customers. The association also stated that its existing rules on VAT, making charges, and stone deductions will remain unchanged for ornament exchange and purchase.
