Bangladesh Approves LNG Cargo Procurement from Aramco Trading Singapore

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) approved the procurement of one liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo from Aramco Trading Singapore, a subsidiary of Saudi Aramco. The approval was made at the eighth meeting of the CCGP for the 2026-27 fiscal year, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury. The LNG will be delivered on August 11-12, 2026.

The CCGP approved the proposal to purchase one LNG cargo from Aramco Trading Singapore at a price of $21.55 per million British thermal units (MMBtu). This procurement is under a government-to-government (G2G) arrangement to meet Bangladesh's growing energy demand.

Bangladesh has been importing LNG to supplement declining domestic natural gas production and ensure a stable supply of fuel for power generation and industrial use. The country currently faces a daily gas demand of about 3,800-4,000 million cubic feet against a supply of roughly 2,600 million cubic feet.
