Bangladesh Approves LNG Purchase from Aramco at $23.93 per MMBtu
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase has approved the purchase of a cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at $23.93 per million British thermal units (MMBtu) from Aramco Trading Singapore Pte Ltd to maintain normal gas supply in Bangladesh.
The approval was given today (19 August) at a meeting of the cabinet committee, chaired by Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, at the NEC conference room in Dhaka's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
Aramco will supply the cargo between 1 and 2 September. It will be Bangladesh's 44th LNG cargo in 2026.
The committee also approved the import of 14 more LNG cargoes from seven companies, with two each from those companies through direct procurement to maintain gas supply for state emergencies.
Other items approved by the committee include the import of 115,000 tonnes of MOP fertiliser at $377.63 per tonne and 20 million litres of refined palm olein at Tk184.10 per litre.
