Bangladesh Approves Purchase of Two LNG Cargoes from BP Singapore
The Bangladesh government has approved the purchase of two cargoes of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from BP Singapore Pte Ltd to ensure uninterrupted gas supply. The total cost of the two cargoes is around Taka 1,850 crore, including advance income tax.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair. The purchase proposal was placed by the Energy and Mineral Resources Division under the international Request for Quotation (RFQ) process.
The first cargo, scheduled for delivery between August 23-24, will be purchased at $21.878 per million British thermal units (MMBtu), costing Taka 927,50,60,833.92 including AIT. The second cargo, to be delivered on September 4-5, will also come from BP Singapore at a cost of $21.778 per MMBtu, or Taka 923,26,66,369.92 including AIT.
