Bangladesh CNG Filling Stations Threaten Indefinite Shutdown Amid Gas Crisis

The owners of compressed natural gas (CNG) filling stations in Bangladesh have withdrawn their planned symbolic strike on July 30 due to the ongoing nationwide gas supply crisis.

The CNG Filling Station and Conversion Owners Association had announced an indefinite nationwide shutdown from August 23 if their demands were not met, including a raise in the commission on CNG sales to Tk13.96 per cubic meter.

The association's convener Amiruzzaman Chowdhury said they decided to withdraw the planned strike after a fire at the Maheshkhali LNG terminal disrupted gas supplies across the country.
