Bangladesh Considers Higher Costs for Quick LNG Terminal Amid Gas Crisis

Bangladesh is considering accepting higher costs to quickly acquire a floating LNG terminal from China due to its growing gas and electricity shortages.

According to Prime Minister's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, securing an FSRU (Floating Storage and Regasification Unit) as soon as possible is the government's top priority to address the crisis.

Zahed stated that Bangladesh cannot currently increase LNG imports because it lacks sufficient regasification capacity to convert imported LNG into gas.

The two existing floating storage and regasification units have a combined capacity of around 1.1 billion cubic feet of gas per day, he said.
