Bangladesh Corn Demand Surges to Record High
Maize production in Bangladesh is on the rise as the crop transforms into a vital raw material for the country's expanding poultry, aquaculture, and textile sectors.
The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) office in Dhaka forecasts domestic maize production to reach a record 6 million tonnes in the 2026-27 marketing year, while imports are expected to rise to 1.8 million tonnes - a 3.4% increase from the previous year.
The growing demand for corn is driven by the feed industry, with the USDA projecting total feed and residual use of corn to reach 7.25 million tonnes in MY27, up 2.1% from the previous year.
