The ongoing gas crisis in Bangladesh has been exacerbated by a fire at one of the country's two Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs), disrupting liquefied natural gas imports, according to Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood.

The minister stated that about a week ago, there was a fire in one of the FSRUs. Fortunately, it was not a major disaster, but the unit is now under repair and will take 10-15 days to complete.

As a result, two LNG cargoes waiting offshore cannot be unloaded, leading to a serious shortage of gas across the country. People are complaining about low gas pressure in their homes, while industries and power plants are also suffering due to fuel shortages.
