Bangladesh Gas Crisis Deepens with 100 mmcfd RLNG Supply Decline

The gas crisis in Bangladesh has deepened after the supply of regasified liquefied natural gas (RLNG) to the national grid fell by another 100 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd).

This marks a decline of around 550 mmcfd since the shutdown of Excelerate Energy's floating LNG terminal, which was caused by a fire on July 21.

The latest drop in RLNG supply has led to low gas pressure at households, industries, captive power plants, and CNG filling stations across the country.

Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution PLC warned that the situation will continue until the supply improves, citing an inventory shortage due to a scheduled LNG cargo failing to arrive on time.
