Bangladesh Gas Output Reaches 2,445 mmcfd After FSRU Resumption

Relief came for businesses in Bangladesh as the total gas supply increased significantly on Saturday, reaching around 2,445 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd). This marked a substantial improvement from the previous day's output of approximately 2,000 mmcfd. The boost was largely due to the resumption of operations at both Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRUs), which had been shut down earlier.

The FSRU of US company resumed partial operations on August 6, while the Summit LNG Terminal resumed regasification from the evening after a brief disruption for over 25 hours since August 13 evening. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has assured that the gas crisis will 'significantly ease within a few days.'

Rough weather in the Bay of Bengal had been challenging, with shortages prompting the country to ration gas. The total natural-gas output increased with the resumption of operation of both FSRUs, providing relief to industries, power plants, households, and other gas-guzzling consumers across Bangladesh.
