Bangladesh Gas Supply Crisis Expected to End Soon

The gas supply situation in Bangladesh is expected to return to normal within the next few days, according to Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, the prime minister's finance and planning adviser.

Titumir made this statement at a seminar organized by the Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies (BIISS) on Monday. He emphasized that energy security is not just about technology or management but also depends on conscious political decisions by the government.

The country's current gas demand is around 3,800 mmcfd, while supply is only at 2,600-2,700 mmcfd. Of this, 1,600 mmcfd comes from domestic sources and 1,000 mmcfd from liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The government has been importing gas from alternative sources to alleviate the shortage.
