Bangladesh Gas Supply Expected to Return to Normal Within Days
Gas supply in Bangladesh is expected to return to normal within two to three days as Excelerate Energy's floating storage and regasification unit (FSRU) has gradually resumed operations.
The FSRU, which had been shut since July 21 after a fire damaged two of its boilers, started supplying around 115 million cubic feet per day (mmcfd) of gas to the national grid on Thursday morning.
According to Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hassan Mahmood, gas supply will return to the level seen before the disruption caused by the FSRU shutdown.
The minister said that once gas supply returns to normal, power plants that remained idle due to the shortage will be brought back into operation.
