Bangladesh Gas Supply Rises Amid Improved LNG Injection
Bangladesh's gas supply situation has taken a significant turn for the better as liquefied natural gas (LNG) injection into the national grid increased, easing pressure on the system. According to Petrobangla data, the total gas supply reached 2,610 million cubic feet (mmcf) at noon on Tuesday, with domestic fields supplying 1,620 mmcf and imported LNG contributing 990 mmcf.
The supply level remained high throughout the afternoon, with total availability standing at 2,606 mmcf at 4pm. Domestic fields supplied 1,615 mmcf, while RLNG (re-gasified LNG) supply increased slightly to 991 mmcf.
This improvement followed a sharp rise in RLNG supply since Monday evening, when the total gas supply stood at 2,582 mmcf. The terminal had gradually resumed operations after being damaged in a fire during a ship-to-ship LNG transfer on July 21, but its supply was interrupted again on August 19.
The current supply level is close to the availability recorded before the disruption caused by the Excelerate-operated Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU) at Moheshkhali.
