Bangladesh Gold Price Jumps Again Amid Rising Tejabi Costs
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has increased the price of gold in the local market. Effective from today, August 15th, the new price of 22-carat gold is Tk 236,779 per bhori (11.664 grams), including VAT. This represents an increase of Tk 2,158 per bhori.
The price hike was made due to the rising cost of tejabi gold in the local market, according to Bajus. Interestingly, just yesterday, the price of the same category of gold was reduced by Tk 2,158, only to be reversed with this latest increase.
The new prices are as follows: 22-carat gold now costs Tk 236,779 per bhori, while 21-carat gold stands at Tk 226,165. 18-carat gold has increased to Tk 194,206 per bhori, and traditional (sanatan) quality gold is now priced at Tk 158,630 per bhori.
Despite the rise in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged, with 22-carat silver costing Tk 5,074 per bhori. The other categories of silver also maintain their previous prices.
