The gold price in Bangladesh has risen again due to an increase in the cost of pure gold on both international and local markets. According to a notice issued by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) on August 8, the price of 22-karat gold, the highest quality variety, has been raised by Tk 4,374 per bhori.

The new prices took effect from 10:00am on August 8. The BAJUS cited an increase in the price of pure gold as the reason for the adjustment. Under the revised rates, 22-karat gold now sells for Tk 234,038 per bhori (11.664 grams), inclusive of VAT.

The prices for other grades were set accordingly: 21-karat gold will go for Tk 223,540 per bhori, 18-karat gold for Tk 191,931 per bhori, and traditional (Shonatoni) gold for Tk 156,822 per bhori. This is the 100th price adjustment in the domestic gold market so far in 2026.

Of these adjustments, prices have been raised 49 times, cut 50 times, and adjusted once for VAT changes.
