Bangladesh Gold Price Jumps Tk 5,482 Per Bhori Amid Steep Increases
The price of gold in Bangladesh has experienced another significant increase, this time by Tk 5,482 per bhori. The new rate is effective as of August 22, 2026, and brings the price of 22-carat gold to Tk 2,46,110 per bhori. This marks the second increase in just three days, with the previous hike being Tk 3,849 per bhori on August 20.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) attributed the revision to a rise in the local price of tejabi gold, which serves as the base input for jewellery. The association stated that the decision was finalized at a meeting of its standing committee on pricing and price monitoring held an hour before the new rates took effect.
It's worth noting that the frequency of these revisions has been increasing in 2026, with prices adjusted 106 times so far this year. Of those, 54 were increases, 51 were decreases, and one was a VAT adjustment. In contrast, last year saw 93 price adjustments, with 64 increases and 29 decreases.
