Bangladesh Gold Prices Drop by Tk 723 per Bhori
Gold prices have dropped in Bangladesh following a decision by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) to cut rates. The new prices, effective from Monday at 10 am, were set based on current trends in the local bullion market. According to BAJUS's notification, signed by Committee Chairman Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen, 22-carat gold now costs Tk 2,35,904 per bhori including VAT, down by Tk 723 from previous rates.
The revised price list also includes 21-carat gold at Tk.2,25,640 and 18-carat gold at Tk.1,93,739. Traditional (Sanatan) gold prices were adjusted, although exact figures for that category are unclear in the notification. BAJUS clarified that VAT is already included in listed prices, so jewellers cannot charge customers any additional VAT.
The association also reiterated its existing rules for exchanging or selling gold and silver jewelry, excluding VAT, making charges, and the cost of stones. This marks the second price cut in three days, with BAJUS lowering 22-carat gold prices along with rates for 21-carat, 18-carat, and traditional gold on Saturday.
BAJUS advised jewellers and buyers to check current rates before transactions due to ongoing volatility in the international and local gold markets.
