Bangladesh Gold Prices Plummet Following BAJUS Announcement
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced a reduction in gold prices in the local bullion market on August 29, 2026. As of August 30, 2026, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by 7,107 taka, from the previous price of 2,47,743 taka to 2,40,636 taka.
The prices for other types of gold have also been reduced. The price of 21-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by 6,713 taka, from 2,36,604 taka to 2,29,891 taka. Similarly, the price of 18-carat gold per bhori has been reduced by 5,854 taka, from 2,03,187 taka to 1,97,333 taka.
The traditional or Sonaton gold price per bhori has also decreased by 4,747 taka. The new prices will apply starting from August 29, 2026. Gold buyers in Bangladesh must pay more than the set price due to a 5% VAT and a minimum making charge of BDT 3,500 per 'bhori'.
