Bangladesh Gold Prices Rebound with Surprise Hike
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has raised the price of gold in the local market, effective from August 15. The best quality or 22-carat gold now costs Tk 236,779 per bhori (11.664 grams), an increase of Tk 2,158 per bhori.
This price hike comes just a day after the association reduced the price of 22-carat gold by the same amount. The decision to raise prices was made in line with the rising price of tejabi gold (pure gold) in the local market.
The new pricing also affects other types of gold, including 21-carat and 18-carat. The price of 22-carat silver remains unchanged at Tk 5,074 per bhori.
