Gold prices in Bangladesh have increased for the second time this month, according to the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (BAJUS). The price of 22-carat gold has risen by Tk 2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams), effective from 10:00am on Monday.

As a result, the price of 22-carat gold jewellery, including VAT, now stands at Tk 223,074 per bhori, as stated in a BAJUS announcement. The decision was made due to an increase in the domestic market price of pure gold.

The revised rates also affect other types of gold: 21-carat gold has increased by Tk 2,100 to Tk 213,043 per bhori, while 18-carat gold has risen by Tk 1,750 to Tk 182,950 per bhori. Traditional gold prices have also been raised by Tk 1,458, reaching Tk 149,474 per bhori.

This price hike comes just three days after BAJUS lowered gold prices on July 24, reducing the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 3,324 per bhori to Tk 220,858. The association attributed the adjustments to changes in the local market price of pure gold.
