Bangladesh Gold Prices Skyrocket Again with Tk 2,158 Increase
The price of gold has risen again in Bangladesh, with a new increase of Tk 2,158 per bhori (11.664 grams) effective from Saturday. This decision was made by the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus), which sets the prices for various types of gold.
According to Bajus, the price hike is due to the rising cost of tejabi gold in the local market. Interestingly, just a day earlier on Friday, the price of 22-carat gold was reduced by Tk 2,158, only to be reversed with this latest increase.
The new prices set by Bajus are as follows: 22-carat gold now costs Tk 236,779 per bhori, including VAT. The price of 21-carat gold has gone up by Tk 2,100 to Tk 226,165 per bhori, while the traditional (sanatan) quality gold now costs Tk 158,630 per bhori, up by Tk 1,458.
