Bangladesh Gold Prices Soar by Up to 5482 Taka Overnight

The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced an increase in gold prices on August 22, 2026. The new prices took effect immediately and are as follows: 22-carat gold now costs BDT 2,46,110 per bhori, up from the previous price of BDT 2,40,628. This represents a 5,482 taka increase. Similarly, 21-carat gold has risen by 5,254 taka to BDT 2,35,035 per bhori, and 18-carat gold is now priced at BDT 2,01,846 per bhori, up from the previous price of BDT 1,97,355. Traditional or Sonaton gold has also increased by 3,616 taka to BDT 1,64,812 per bhori.

According to the new prices, the unit price of gold in Bangladesh is as follows: for 22-carat gold, 1 ana costs BDT 15,381.88, and for 21-carat gold, 1 ana costs BDT 14,689.69. The minimum making charge remains at BDT 3,500 per bhori.

It's worth noting that buyers must pay more than the set price when purchasing gold jewelry due to a 5% VAT added to the fixed price for selling gold ornaments.
