Bangladesh Gold Prices Spike with BAJUS Increase
The Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) announced an increase in gold prices in the local bullion market on Sunday, August 9, 2026. According to the new price, the highest quality 22-carat gold has been increased by 4,374 taka, from 2,29,664 taka to 2,34,038 taka per bhori. Similarly, the price of 21-carat gold has been increased by 4,199 taka, from 2,19,342 taka to 2,23,541 taka per bhori.
The price of 18-carat gold has also been increased by 3,557 taka, from 1,88,374 taka to 1,91,931 taka per bhori. Traditional (Sonaton) gold has been increased by 3,674 taka, from 1,53,148 taka to 1,56,822 taka per bhori.
The new prices will take effect starting Sunday, August 9, 2026. Buyers must pay more than the set price when purchasing gold jewelry due to a 5% VAT added for selling gold ornaments and a minimum making charge of BDT 3,500 per 'bhori'.
