Gold prices have increased again in Bangladesh, as the Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has raised the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 2,158 per bhori. The new rates took effect at 10am on Saturday, August 15.

According to BAJUS, the price of pure gold, known locally as tejabi gold, increased in the domestic market. Considering the overall market situation, the association revised gold prices accordingly.

The revised prices are: Tk 236,779 per bhori for 22-carat gold, including VAT; Tk 226,164 per bhori for 21-carat gold; and Tk 194,205 per bhori for 18-carat gold. The price of traditional-method gold has been fixed at Tk 158,630 per bhori.

BAJUS stated that the revised rates will remain in effect until further notice. Labour charges will be applicable separately depending on the design of the jewellery. VAT is already included in the selling price of gold and silver jewellery, meaning jewellers cannot collect VAT separately from customers.
