Bangladesh Jewellers Association Cuts Gold Prices by Tk 11,489 in Two Rounds

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has announced another price cut for gold ornaments in the domestic market. Effective from Monday at 10am, the new pricing sees a reduction of Tk 4,374 per bhori for the best quality 22-carat gold. This brings the VAT-inclusive price to Tk 2,36,254 per bhori.

The move comes after a fall in the price of tejabi (pure) gold in the local market, according to Bajus. The association has also reduced prices for other types of gold ornaments: 21-carat by Tk 4,141 to Tk 2,25,640 per bhori, 18-carat by Tk 3,616 to Tk 1,93,739 per bhori, and traditional gold ornaments by Tk 2,916 to Tk 1,58,280 per bhori.

This is the second price cut in just two days. On August 29, Bajus slashed the price of 22-carat gold by Tk 7,115 per bhori. With Monday's cut, the price of the finest quality gold has come down by a total of Tk 11,489 in just two rounds.

Bajus has also revised down the price of silver ornaments. The VAT-inclusive price of 22-carat silver ornaments has been reduced by Tk 175 to Tk 5,132 per bhori, while 21-carat silver now costs Tk 4,957 per bhori, down Tk 117.
