Bangladesh Jewellers Hike Gold Prices by Tk1,050 Per Bhori
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has increased the price of gold in the local market by Tk1,050 per bhori. This move reverses three consecutive rounds of cuts and brings the new price of 22-carat gold to Tk232,930 per bhori, effective from 10am on Saturday.
The adjustment was made due to a rise in the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) in the local market. The association has also announced prices for other types of gold: 21-carat at Tk222,491, 18-carat at Tk191,056, and traditional (Sanatan) gold at Tk156,064 per bhori, all inclusive of VAT.
Bajus stated that the new rates will remain in effect until further notice, with making charges applying depending on jewellery design. The association's existing rules for ornament exchange and purchase will remain unchanged.
