The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) has increased the price of gold in the domestic market by Tk 9,856 per bhori. The new price of 22-karat gold is now set at Tk 232,930 per bhori, including VAT. This increase was made to reflect the rising cost of pure gold in the local market.

The revised prices came into effect from 10 am on Thursday and will remain effective until further notice at all jewellery outlets. The making charges for gold ornaments will still apply separately depending on the design of the ornament, according to Bajus. Since VAT is already included in the sale price of gold and silver jewellery, it cannot be collected separately from customers.

In addition to the gold price adjustment, the price of 22-karat silver was also increased by Tk 292 per bhori to Tk 4,899, including VAT. The prices of other types of silver were similarly adjusted, with 21-karat silver set at Tk 4,666 per bhori and traditional silver at Tk 3,033 per bhori.
