Bangladesh LNG Imports from US Jump by 61% Amid Mideast Disruptions
The import of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the US to Bangladesh has seen a significant surge in the first half of this year.
According to official data, the country imported 50.23 billion cubic feet of gas during this period, a rise of 61% compared to the same period last year.
The usual trend was for Bangladesh to import LNG at low amounts from the US and purchase most of its supply from Middle Eastern destinations.
This change in pattern is attributed to QatarEnergy declaring force majeure on supplies, which has been extended beyond September for Bangladesh.
