Bangladesh Secures Additional LNG Cargoes for August

The government of Bangladesh has secured five additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes to meet growing energy demand in August. Each cargo contains an average of 3.2 million MMBtu of LNG, and they will be brought from the spot market, long-term contracts, and short-term contracts.

The Director of Petrobangla, AKM Mizanur Rahman, stated that the additional supplies are aimed at maintaining stability in the national gas network. The nine cargoes contain around 28.8 million MMBtu LNG, with four already arriving and five scheduled to arrive later this month.

The shipments are set to arrive on August 17, 21, 23, 27, and 30. In July, a total of 11 LNG cargoes were brought under long-term and short-term contracts and the spot market, containing around 35.2 million MMBtu of LNG.
