Bangladesh Secures Four LNG Cargoes at Varying Prices Amid Domestic Gas Shortfall
The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved the procurement of four liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargoes to meet Bangladesh's growing energy demand. The prices for these cargoes range from $23.98 to $28.03 per million British thermal units (MMBtu).
The 49th LNG cargo, scheduled for delivery on September 25-26, will be procured from Aramco Trading Singapore at $27.54 per MMBtu. The 50th and 51st cargoes, set to arrive on October 1-2 and 5-6 respectively, will be supplied by BP Singapore Pte Ltd and Vitol Asia Pte Ltd at $28.03 and $26.6688 per MMBtu.
The additional cargo will be procured under a government-to-government arrangement from Aramco Trading Singapore Pte Ltd at $23.98 per MMBtu. This cargo is scheduled for delivery on September 10, 2026, as an 'Additional Quantity' under the existing agreement between Aramco and Petrobangla.
The decision comes amid Bangladesh's reliance on imported LNG to meet the shortfall in domestic natural gas production and maintain supplies to power plants, industries, and other consumers.
