Bangladesh Secures LNG Deal Amid Global Gas Market Disruptions
Bangladesh has secured a long-term liquefied natural gas supply agreement with US-based Gunvor to mitigate disruptions in global gas markets caused by the US-Israeli conflict with Iran.
The state-to-state agreement covers 117 cargoes between 2026 and 2038, including five cargoes in 2026, six in 2027, and six in 2028. Cargoes in 2026 and 2027, plus three of the 2028 deliveries, will be priced at the Japan Korea Marker index plus 8.75 cents per million British thermal units.
The remaining three 2028 cargoes and 10 cargoes annually from 2029 through 2038 will be priced at 121% of the US Henry Hub benchmark plus $5.20 per mmBtu.
