Bangladesh Seeks More LNG as Iran War Disrupts Global Energy Flows

Bangladesh is seeking additional liquefied natural gas (LNG) shipments as the ongoing Iran war disrupts flows through the Strait of Hormuz.

The state-owned Rupantarita Prakritik Gas has issued a tender for three LNG cargoes to be delivered in September, following a previous tender last week for five cargoes via Bloomberg Terminal.

Last year, Bangladesh bought more than 60% of its LNG from Qatar, according to ship-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg.

The country's increased demand for LNG is likely due to the ongoing conflict, which has already caused disruptions in global energy markets.
