Bangladesh Seeks Time to Resolve Energy Crisis Amid Fuel Supply Shortages

Energy Crisis in Bangladesh Continues to Persist

Commerce and Industry Minister Khandakar Abdul Muktadir acknowledged that the ongoing energy crisis in Bangladesh will take time to resolve. The minister stated that expanding terminal capacity, drilling new gas wells, and securing liquefied natural gas (LNG) imports are essential steps to alleviate the situation.

The country's current fuel demand is roughly twice its available supply, making the shortage more apparent due to increased consumption during this period of the year. Muktadir noted that the government needs at least two years to build the necessary infrastructure to overcome the energy crisis.
