Liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply to Bangladesh's national grid has increased after a prolonged shortage that lasted over one and a half months. Petrobangla announced an increase in LNG supply to 98 crore cubic feet per day, following the arrival of a new cargo on September 14 at 10pm.

The total daily gas supply to the national grid now stands at about 260 crore cubic feet with the addition of imported LNG to domestic production. This is expected to ease the gas shortage in industrial factories and power plants.

According to Petrobangla, the actual daily demand for gas in Bangladesh is around 380 crore cubic feet, but due to cargo shortages, supply dropped to 237 crore cubic feet yesterday, with only 75 crore cubic feet obtained from LNG. With the increase in LNG supply, total supply has been raised to 260 crore cubic feet.
