Barossa Project Delivers First Condensate Shipment to South Korea

Santos and its joint venture partners have made significant progress in the Barossa gas project. On July 24, they loaded approximately 300,000 barrels of condensate onto the Aframax tanker Boccadesse, which is bound for South Korea's SK Incheon Petrochem refinery.

The condensate will primarily be processed into naphtha and jet fuel, reflecting a critical step forward for the offshore development. This shipment marks the first export of condensate from the project, with LNG production already underway at the Darwin LNG facility, which is operating at 97 per cent of planned capacity.

Australia's energy security relationship with South Korea has been highlighted by Santos CEO Kevin Gallagher as a key aspect of this transaction. He noted that 'Australia is a trusted supplier of energy to key partner countries,' and emphasized the importance of refined fuels and energy products from these partners in sustaining the Australian economy.
