Bay Area Gas Prices Hit Record High Amid Crude Oil Surge
Bay Area gas prices continue to rise as crude oil prices surge to $90 per barrel. The price hike has pushed California's average fuel price to a record high of $5.57 per gallon, outpacing the rest of the nation.
Average fuel prices around the Bay Area include $5.76 in San Francisco, $5.58 in Oakland, and $5.57 in San Jose, according to AAA's weekly fuel report.
Rising crude oil prices are behind the spike at the pump, said Aldo Vazquez of AAA Mountain West Group. Volatility along the Strait of Hormuz and instability in the region have contributed to the increase in oil prices.
